Waiting for you

Waiting for you
      through the coming and going
of the sun and the seasons,
of the moon and the monsoons,
I got scorched, I got drenched.

But only through transitions like these -
      between hope and helplessness,
      between longing and letting go
I realize that feelings of yours evaporated
     long before the last teardrops
           of mine.

Waiting for you
the vast galaxy of time spins past me!
Waiting for you
my soul, chained by destiny's gravity
           on a geostationary orbit,
can neither come close nor break free.

Yet,
the chasm between us deep and wide,
the night we sleep through long and immense.
I burn like a wasp
       drawn towards the ominous pyre.
I smither like an unfortunate meteor
       entering the earth's atmosphere.
Just waiting for you!

I have left the stage

When the last curtain fell
There maybe no standing ovation,
No 'bravo', 'bravo' from the crowd.
There may be no press coverage,
No critics toiling for a new praise-word.
But why do I care?
I have left the stage!

When I deliver my last soliloquy
There maybe no moistened eyes,
No lump in my co-actors' throat.
Maybe no void felt in the theatre
A parting script nobody wrote.
But why do I care?
I have left the stage!

Years from the last curtain call -
There maybe no evidence of my existence,
No historian mining the net for a clue.
There still will be drama on this stage
even if no exhibition of styles I knew -
But why do I care?
I have left the stage!

When I leave this stage with
no accolades perhaps to show
Whether I played my part right
Whether I carried my roles
Without a stage fright!
But why do I care?
This be my prize that
I've touched lives by the time
I have left the stage!

Carry on

Dream not if thee fear the nightmare
Venture not lest you embrace failure
Dare not leave the harbor for the sea
If you care not to know if you are free.

Love may hurt you, give you a scorn --
Can you feel a rose and not its thorn?
Flights of despair erupt into a joyful song,
darkness of anxiety gives in to new dawn

Dark clouds may hover over thy story
Be in the light, in virtue there's glory!
Withstand you must this immense pressure
Only then you will find your true measure.

Sandbed of Pain

With what hope
Do I create my playhouse
On a sandbed of pain?

Destiny with my luck toys
Night and day
On a sandbed of pain.

Alack this heart!
Why doesn't it lose hope?
Whatever little it wants
It gets none, whatsoever none!

Who knows why
Clouds only fill up my sky!
Destiny with my luck toys
Night and day
On a sandbed of pain.

Each day rises a new sun,
Each day brings a new dawn -
But in my life's gloom
Neither rises the sun
Nor comes the dawn.

The world bade me bye -
as if it called and said,
"there's no place here,
you are a nobody."

My tired soles give up
In the distressed gloom
Seeking a path
On a sandbed of pain.

With what hope
Do I create my playhouse
On a sandbed of pain?

This is a translation of Bengali song

Train of Thoughts

Why does it tend to be this way?
They expect me to be on the rail
And scorned me each time I fail.

My train of attention
     derails before thy station
Oh lord! oh the mastermind!
Why can't I train my mind?

Why don't you take my gift away
and let me mind my thought train
from being so astray!
