On Turning Four

Today as you turned four
Baby we can call you are no more.
But you are still our little Pudlu
'Happy Birthday' said dada Gudlu.

Today's a special day to celebrate
Not being with you we mostly hate.
Your year #3 was so much fun --
Specially your visit to California sun.

From mimi's house to the train
are our rides down memory lane.
You started to swim like a fish
and to enjoy all kinds of dish.

You are one cool artist in your den
and mom's li'l helper in the kitchen.
Then came daddy's Australia trip
All the cool stuff makes you hip.

Your knowledge of country flag
gives us pride and right to brag.
I am quickly running out of rhyme
So see you today on Facetime.

Happy Birthday to a special boy
May your life be full of Joy!

Krishu the fish

This is a poem for Krishu (written after he finished his swimming lessons)

There's a little boy named Krish
who really can swim like a fish.
He enjoys going to the pool
with the floater his only tool.
He can swim at length a mile
finishing of course with a smile!

Congrats Krishu!

On your 5th Birthday

Five long years gone, painfully long
You beat evermore in our hearts' song.
One, two, three, four, and now five
Each year keeps your memory alive.

Why do God give and then reprive?
Sadly true, life without you is no jive.
Your life though short, impact is long
fond memories of you keep us strong.

Time flies, today you have turned five --
But to be by your side, I couldn't contrive.
So, here's a birthday wish moist with tear.
We miss you, we love you, our angel dear!

Hope you loved the balloons we all left
and the wooden clogs for you we kept.
You would have been five, you are five.
In our mind's eye, the dream is alive.

Looking back

As the end of 2011 draws near
with the promise of a new year,
orbiting aimlessly through digisphere
another marker's about to disappear.

2011 wasn’t just another year -
Witnessed a transition in career
Leaving Memphis after 14 long years
is bound to bring some pain and tears.
New opportunities but new fear;
the future ahead wasn’t so clear.

2011 wasn’t all that rosy and fine
as one may think from FB timeline
Relived 2007 all over again
A sweet angel left for heaven.

Yet, it wasn’t all that bad either
Got a break, got some breather.
Made new friends, found old ones
New unions, memory lane reruns

But on the passing of another year
something's now so crystal clear.
2012 should have no new resolve
Still so much from 2011 to solve.
